Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve the strength and to facilitate the manufacture, by connecting two members with a step therebetween in a longitudinal direction through bellows having S-shape in cross section thereof.
CONSTITUTION: There is a step H between a flange 6 at an upper portion of a drum of a heat exchanger and a tube plate 7, a selected surface of the flange 6 has an intermediate member 16 welded at 18 thereto, a selected surface of the tube plate 7 has an intermediate member 17 welded at 19 thereto and the bellows 20 are welded to the members 16, 17. The thickness of connecting ends 16', 17' of the members 16, 17 is equal to a thickness (t) of the bellows 20. The bellows 20 are formed of a thin steel plate with the thickness (t), and have the first and second arcs 21, 22 with their openings directed oppositely to form an S-shaped cross section thereof. Both the arcs 21, 22 have the same radius R1 (R2). Thus, stress to be induced radially at the weld zone of the attached ends of the bellows can be reduced and therefore this is quite advantageous in view of the strength.
