PURPOSE:To increase the speed of a readout scan by dividing logical processing when extracting one-line picture data from two-line picture data and by making even the processing time of each scan. CONSTITUTION:To extract one-line picture data from two-line picture data by logical processing based upon the previous logic processing result, the logic processing is divided and every time picture data of each line is obtained from scanner 7, the processing is performed successively. Then, mu-CPU1 codes two-line picture data stored in random access memory RAM3 into one-line picture data, which is sent out via modem 5. Therefore, since the processing time of each scan becomes nearly even, the speed of a readout scan can be increased and its effective utilization can be attained without the latency time of mu-CPU1.
