Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the distortion of the output signal of a power amplifier by connecting a predistorter, consisting of the 1st and 2nd envelope detectors, 1st and 2nd function generators, multiplier, and phase modulator, to the input side of the power amplifier. CONSTITUTION:An input signal from terminal 201 is inputted to multiplier 204 and envelope detector 204. Detector 204 detects an envelope of signal amplitude and then inputs it to function generator 203. The output signal of generator 203 is multiplied by the input signal at multiplier 204, whose output signal is inputted to modulated-signal input terminals of envelope detector 205 and phase modulator 207. Detector 205 detects the amplitude envelope of the output signal of multiplier 204 and inputs it to function generator 206. The output signal of generator 206 is inputted to the modulating signal input terminal of modulator 207, whose output terminal 208 is connected to the input terminal of the power amplifier with nonlinear input-output characteristics. So that amplitude distortion and phase distortion of the power amplifier will cancel, functions of generators 203 and 206 are selected, reducing the output distortion of the power amplifier.
