Abstract

PURPOSE: To make pure water from sea water with a simple apparatus at a low cost in making pure water from sea water, by utilizing the heat of exhaust gas of an engine for a suction pump for sea water, and by utilizing the sea water, which is used for cooling evaporated water, for ejection.
CONSTITUTION: A pump 2 is operated by a small engine 1, hereby sea water is sent pressurized through a suction pipe 22 and a discharge pipe 3 to a condensing chamber 6. A portion of the sea water is charged by opening a valve 10 through a branch pipe 9 to an evaporating chamber 7, where it is evaporated to form steam by heating with a heater 12 using the exhaust gas heat of the engine 1 as a heat source. Evaporated steam flows through a connecting pipe 8 into the cooling tube 14 in a condensing chamber 6 contained in a cooling pipe 5. The steam is cooled in the cooling tube 14 with sea water sent through the discharge pipe 3 so as to be condensed and is collected in a drain chamber 17. The sea water having cooled the cooling tube 14 enters an ejector 4 through a connecting pipe 21 and is ejected from an open end to the air, hereby the pressure in the cooling pipe 5 and the evaporation chamber 7 is reduced, hence the evaporation of sea water in the evaporation chamber is accelerated.
