Abstract
PURPOSE: To highly accurately separate and quantitatively determine each constituent of the acid gas in a liquid by using sulfuric acid having a specified concentration and a passage whose inner wall has been treated with phosphoric acid.
CONSTITUTION: Sulfuric acid having a concentration of 50W70wt% is stored in a gas producer 4 having a glass filter plate 12, and the inner wall of the passage between the gas producer 4 and a gas chromatograph is treated with phosphoric acid. Thus, injecting a sample liquid into the gas producer 4 provides an acid gas, which, together with a large amount of water vapour, is introduced to the gas chromatograph by carrier gas. Using the sulfuric acid having such specified concentration permits the acid gas constituent to be completely liberated from the sample liquid as well as the constitutents of the acid gas such as carbon dioxide, hydrogen sulfide, sulfur dioxide and carbonyl sulfide to be highly accurately separated and quantitatively determined. In addition, treating the passage with phosphoric acid prevents the acid gas from being absorbed on the way to the gas chromatograph.
