Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain an excellent oscillation reducing effect with a change of the natural frequency by varying horizontal sectional areas of the bottoms of wing tanks which are so shaped as to reduce freely through a horizontal adjustment within the tanks in a U-shaped oscillation reducing apparatus.
CONSTITUTION: Wing tanks 2 and 2 are connected between the bottoms thereof through a duct 1 and between tops through an air duct to be opened in the air. The wing tanks are so arranged that a horizontal sectional area reduces gradually at the bottoms thereof and a subtank 4 is provided between the inside of one wing tank 2 and the duct 1. The subtank 4 and the duct 1 are connected with a drain tube having a pump 5. Therefore, horizontal adjustment in the wing tanks by the pump 5, the drain tube or the like enables varying of the natural frequency by changing the water surface area in the tanks 2 and 2.
