Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce a rolling resistance without spoiling resistance to abrasion, properties of wet skid and the like by a method wherein a tread rubber is constituted with two layers of a cap tread rubber and a base tread rubber and each layer is provided with various characteristics respectively.
CONSTITUTION: A radial tire is constituted with a pair of bead wires 1, a carcass 2, a tread 5 arranged so as to be mounted between side walls 4 and a breaker 3. In this case, the tread 5 is consituted with two layers of a cap tread rubber A at a surface side of the tread and a base tread rubber B at a side of the breaker 3. Said cap tread rubber A is made of a rubber having a resistance to abrasion, properties of wet skid and characteristics directed to a driving stability while the base tread rubber B is made of a rubber capable of affording a remarkable low rolling resistance. According to this method, the rolling resistance may be reduced without spoiling the resistance to abrasion, the driving stability and the like.
