Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain thorough dewatering under a superhigh pressure without clogging caused in filter cloth, by the combination of a special stable feeding method of sludge and the effects of diffusion and shearing to sludge in filter chambers and a mechanism of gradual increasing for filtering pressure, in the pressure dewatering process of sludge.

CONSTITUTION: The sludge dewatered to the 70W90% water content in the first stage, is fed on a moving filter cloth A from a hopper 1, and is so stabilized in a form preparation device 2 as to have prefixed dimensions in its thickness, width, and density, then continuously sent to a filtering device having twelve filtering chambers. The sludge, being made L in length and about 1/2 of the chamber size in thickness and width, is put into the clearance between upper and lower filter plates centered by a filter cloth roller 5. Then a pushing panel 4 is lifted by rams 3, gradually increasing pressure to squeeze the filter plates between the pushing panel 4 and a ceiling panel 6, wherein the sludge spreads out fully in the filter chamber, being subject to shearing forces and filtered of its water contained. Lastly, water being purged out from the chambers by air blow, the dewatered cake may be discharged by lowering the filter plates.
