Abstract

PURPOSE: To decrease molten slag and improve product quality by pouring molten metal while lowering a plunger tip along with pouring and allowing the molten metal to gently fall with a small head.
CONSTITUTION: With a plunger tip 18 sliding in a vertical sleeve 15 elevated, pouring of molten metal from a ladle 20 into the vertical sleeve is started, and as the pouring progresses, the tip 18 of a plunger 17 is lowered so that the pouring ends in the lowermost position. Because of this, the position of the top surface of the molten metal in the sleeve 15 becomes nearly constant from the beginning to the end, thus the pouring is accomplished gently with always minimum head.
