Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:Compounds of formula (R is ethyl, vinyl) and their salts.
EXAMPLE: 1-Ethyl-6-fluoro-1, 4-dihydro-4-oxo -7- ( 1-piperazinyl-1, 8-naphthylidine- 3-carboxylic acid.
USE: Antibacterial: they are effective on gram-positive as well as -negative bacteria and also on Pseudomonas areuginosa.
PREPARATION: Ethyl 7-( 4-ethoxycarbonyl-1-piperazinyl )-6-fluoro-1, 4-dihydro-4- oxo-1,8-naphthylidine-3-carboxylate is made to react with ethyl iodie in dimethyl formamide in the presence of potassium carbonate. The resultant product is made to react with sodium hydroxide and ethanol to form the compound of the formula in which R is ethyl. The compound of the formula is used as the effective component to give an antibacterial which is administered by 0.1W7g/day in one to several portions. This preparation is high in safety and effective even in low dose.
