Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a torsion bar with high elasticity constant in an easy way by winding fibers immersed with reinforced plastics around a metal resilient material, while maintaining prestress given to the metal material in a direction of twisting. CONSTITUTION:First, an elastic metal piece 1, a strap-shaped piece of resilient metal such as steel, being held at its both ends by twisting jigs (unshown) is given prestress by twisting either or both ends of the metal piece in an opposite direction. Then, the strap, over its surface, is wound with glass fibers or carbon fibers immersed with gelled resin such as epixy resin and formed in sheet, up to a desired diameter to constitute an elastic reinforced plastic piece 2. When both ends of the elastic metal piece 2 are released, obtained is a composite metal/reinforced plastics torsion bar which has balanced elasticity between both resilient materials 1 and 2.
