Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent corrosion of the pile positively for a long time by applying corrosion inhibitive material coat and fiber-reinforced protective structure to the steel pipe piles in the splash effected zone.
CONSTITUTION: Steel pipe piles in the splash zone are coated in equal thickness with viscous corrosion-inhibitive material based mainly on, for instance, petrolatum applied along the contour with a brush, etc. Next, on this coat, a fiber cloth is wound or pasted and nondropping adhesive resin curable at room temperature is applied on the cloth to allow impregnation. Next, resin-impregnated fiber cloth is manually pressed on the resin coat in such manner that the said cloth may closely stick to the coat leaving no clearance. Under this condition, the adhesive resin is allowed to be cured in a prearranged thickness and a fiber-reinforced protective structure for steel pipe pile is formed in said way. As fibre cloth and nondropping adhesive resin curable at room temperature which are used for forming a fibre- reinforced protective structure, fibre cloth of glass or vinylon and adhesive resin such as epoxy resin, etc. are used.
