Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the amount of water to be used by a method wherein high temperature water or steam, after used as cooling water in the process of dry-type exhaust gas desulfurization, is used as the steam source for activating a carbonaceous adsorbent in the dry-type exhaust gas desulfurization.
CONSTITUTION: In the dry-type exhaust gas desulfurization, the carbonaceous adsorbent for sulfur dioxide gas adsorption is prepared by using steam and heated gas to activate a part of coal 1 which has been dry-distilled by a dry-distillation column 27. At this time, the activating steam uses high temperature water or steam after it has been used as cooling water in the cooling water system 8, 17, 22, and 37. Or, blow water from a boiler 2 may be used. This eliminates the need for the water specifically used as activating steam and thus results in water saving.
