Abstract
PURPOSE:To integrate the electromagnetic pump and the flowmeter by measuring the flow velocity from a terminal voltage of the pump utilizing a principle that it is given as a function on a speed electromotive force of a conductive fluid with the supply of the constant electric current to the DC conduction type electromagnetic pump. CONSTITUTION:A circular piping 53 of a duct 5 is connected to a rectangular duct 52 through an expanding tube 51. Magnetic poles 4 comprising a parmanent magnet or the like are provided on the top and bottom of the rectangular duct 52 to form a magnetic field at the right angle of the flow. The constant current is applied directly to the fluid from the direction at the right angle to the magnetic field thus formed through electrodes 3 to generate a pump action. The constant current is fed to the DC conduction type electromagnetic pump 11 from a constant current power unit 12. A terminal voltage of the electromagnetic pump 11 given as a function on the flow velocity of the fluid is detected with a voltage measuring device 13 and computed with an arithmetic device 14. After converted into a flow velocity signal of the fluid, it is displayed and recorded on an indicator/recorder 15.
