Abstract

PURPOSE: To make it possible to reversibly change the wettability of molding surfaces, by light-irradiating a molding containing a photo-isomerizable spiropyran compound.
CONSTITUTION: A molding of a photo-isomerizable spiropyran compound such as a benzospiropyran derivative is irradiated with light. This light irradiation can be performed by the use of known light sources such as xenon lamps and high pressure mercury vapor lamps, and it is preferable to use the light from such sources after selecting suitable wavelengths with the aid of colored glass filters.
EFFECT: It is made possible to reversibly change the degree of hydrophilicity of molding surfaces. The wet properties of molding surfaces are controlled by adjusting the wavelength, intensity and irradiation time of light.
