Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the accuracy of thickness of sheet on the runout side and to improve the yield, by establishing the numerical formula for predicting the sheet breadth to be obtained by the present rolling mill, and by setting the roll gap according to the computed breadth reduction of the vertical rolling mill. CONSTITUTION:The rolling condition like as the breadth and thickness of the slab to be fed to the vertical rolling mill E1 and the aim breadth and aim thickness, etc., on the run-out side of the horizontal rolling mill R6 are inputted to the computer 13 by the input unit 11; and the allotment proportion of the breadth reduction for each of the vertical rolling mills is inputted to the computer 13 by the setting board 12; then, the computer 13 determines the maximum breadth reduction of the vertical rolling mills E1-E6 respectively. Next, the computer 13 operates the deviation of the slab breadth from the aim breadth on the run-out side of the horizontal rolling mill R6 and operates the prediction for the breadth reduction of the rolling mill E1. Then, the computer 13 determines the breadth reduction of the vertical rolling mills E2-E6, and checks whether this value is smaller than the maximum breadth reduction allotted to each mill. If it is excessive in one of the mills E2-E6, it is substituted by its maximum breadth reduction value. According to thus determined breadth reduction and the rolling condition of each of vertical rolling mills E1- E6, the sheet breadth on the run-out side of the mill group and the roll gaps of these mills are operated by the computer 13.
