Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable connection to be performed easily and accurately by covering at least one optical fiber with a casing base material, and securing these then cutting the casing base material together with the optical fiber and again butting the same to the state before the cutting thereby manufacturing a connector. CONSTITUTION:A cylindrical casing base material 3 having a through-hole at the center is inserted and fixed to one continuous optical fiber 2 by means of an adhesive agent or the like. The central part of the base material 3 is perpendicularly cut together with the base material 3 and optical fiber 2 to make two casings 5, 5'. Connectors 6, 6' are provided to the outside circumferential surface thereof and the casings 5, 5' are butted to the state before the cutting, whereby the connection is accomplished. It is equally well to make the casing base material 3 by providing a semicircular or V-shaped groove to axially divided blank materials, and adhering and fixing these after inserting optical fibers 2. In addition, the optical fibers may be plural. Thereby, the connection of the optical fibers 2 can be performed easily and accurately.
