Abstract

PURPOSE:To simplify the construction without increasing the number of rotary joints by separating the responses from the target with a reader and a receiver synchronous to each signal transmitted from 2 sets of secondary surveillance radar antennas arranged opposite to each other by 180 deg. in such a manner that the signals are nonsynchronous to each other. CONSTITUTION:The SSR antennas 11 and 12 arranged opposite to each other by 180 deg. are switched through the switch 14 adapted to be selected by the timing signal generation circuit 18 while the transmitter/receiver 17 is controlled to transmit the nonsynchronous inquiry transmission pulse through the antennas 11 and 12. At the same time, either of the reception with the transmitter/receiver 17 and the code readers 19 and 20 is controlled so as to be synchronous to each two sets of the transmission pulses nonsynchronous, whereby the responses from the target machine or the like through the antennas 11 and 12 are read separately. Therefore, a set of transmitters track the target or the like without increase in the number of channels of the rotary joint 16 thereby simplifying the construction of the secondary surveillance radar.
