Abstract

1,156,315. Two-way transmission. ELECTRIC & MUSICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 15 July, 1966 [15 July, 1965], No. 29986/65. Headings H4R and H4U. In a transmission system for transmitting discrete frequency control signals to, and receiving acknowledgement signals from, a gantry crane over a single transmission channel, e.g. including an inductive transmission system, the transmitter 1 and receiver 2 at the control station are alternately connected by gates 3 and 4 to the transformer 7 and hence to the inductive coupling loop 22. On the gantry a transmitter 11 and receiver 12 are alternately connected by gates 13 and 14 to transformer 17 and hence to the inductive coupling loop 21. Pulse generators 9 and 19 operating gates 3 and 4, and 13 and 14, respectively, are arranged to operate at different frequencies, e.g. 30 c.p.s. and 60 c.p.s., so as to ensure the alternate connection of transmitter 1 to receiver 12 and transmitter 11 to receiver 2.
