Abstract
PURPOSE: To reduce treatment load of night soil and to simplify after-treatment, by subjecting the scum separated from the night soil in a pretreatment stage to self- digestion in the state of high concentration and then to a treatment for making it harmless.
CONSTITUTION: The night soil passed through a screen 2 is led to a reservoir 3 in the first tank portion 3a of which scum in the night soil is separated by the specific gravity to float, and the scum is supplied to and is accumulated in a scum reservoir 5 and is allowed to stand for a whole day in this state to be subjected to self-digestion. After the self-digestion, the scum is brought to separation operation by a centrifugal dryer 6, etc. to separate liquid and solid and is treated to be harmless. Thus the amount of scum in night soil is reduced rationally to decrease the treatment load and simplify the after-treatment facilities.
