Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable automatic change of the damping property of the shock absorber corresponding to the loadage of a vehicle by enabling free setting of the damping property on the side of shrinkage at the time when the vehicle is loaded or unloaded, respectively. CONSTITUTION:The shock absorber is constituted by arranging two tandemtype damping valves 9 and 10 in the bottom part of a lower chamber 8 and also by providing the 1st port 11 used exclusively when the vehicle is unloaded and the 2nd port 12 used exclusively when the vehicle is loaded, both having openings at the back surfaces of the damping valves 9 and 10 respectively, in such a manner that they are opened or closed selectively corresponding to the loadage of the vehicle by a flange-shaped valve part 19 projected from the inner-peripheral wall of a sleeve 13. Accordingly, the damping property on the shrinkage side meeting the requirements of the vehicle when it is loaded or unloaded respectively can be given to the shock absorber.
