Abstract
PURPOSE:To provide a starting switch of easy installation and sure operation, by using a bimetal to operate the starting switch which is connected in series with an auxiliary winding and by manufacturing the switch of normally closed contacts, whose action is maintained. CONSTITUTION:When power is applied, a main winding 1 and an auxiliary winding 2 is energized because the contact 5b of the starting switch 5 is closed. When a preset time has elapsed, a bimetal 5a is operated by a current flowing through the auxiliary winding 2 to open the contact 5b. As a result, no current flows through the bimetal 5a. After a prescribed time, the bimetal tries to go back to the original state. But, the bimetal 5a is held by an attractive force because a voltage is applied to an excitation coil 5c. Therefore, the contact 5b is kept open.
