Abstract

PURPOSE: To efficiently manufacture metal oxide fine powder having uniformity by forming metal oxide from a water soluble metal compound in water contg. a polymer having crosslinkage and forming water swellable microgel.
CONSTITUTION: An aqueous soln. of a mixture of a water soluble monomer having one vinyl group and a water soluble monomer having two or more vinyl groups is subjected to reverse phase emulsion polymn. at a state where it is emulsified to a water-in-oil type emulsion with a water-in-oil type emulsifier in a nonpolar ogg. solvent to form a polymer having corsslinkage in latex polymer preticle unit of ≤1μ diameter and forming water swellable microgel. This polymer is added to water, and metal oxide or its water insoluble precursor is formed from a water soluble metal compound by a chemical reaction in the polymer-added water. The polymer used is preferably a copolymer of (meth)acrylamide and 0.01W1mol% methylenebisacrylamide.
