Abstract

PURPOSE: To make polymer latex present stably even in a low pH region, to make it fulfill a function as a bridging agent and to improve the performance of a film by compounding a block isocyanate compound into the polymer latex.
CONSTITUTION: A material, monomer composition thereof consists of (a) a 45W 85wt. part ethylenic unsaturated monomer and (b) an 5W15wt. part ethylenic unsaturated monomer containing a hydroxyl group, and (c) the block isocyanate compound in quantity sifficient for containing a 0.75W1.25mol isocyanate group to the 1mol hydroxyl group of said (b) is added and dispersed to the material. The polymer latex, pH thereof is adjusted to 3.0 or lower and which has polymer particles obtained by emulsifying and polymerizing the product under an anion group polymerization initiator and/or an anion group emulsifier and water and charged to negative, is used.
