Abstract
PURPOSE:To place a charge electrode close to an ink jet nozzle to enable ink particles having very small diameters to be formed, by providing an insulator between the charge electrode and the ink jet nozzle, the insulator having an opening for passing ink. CONSTITUTION:To a forward end surface of the ink jet head 1 is bonded a Mylar film 2 having a thickness of 100mum to which is bonded a U-shaped charge electrode 3. Both the Mylar film 2 and the charge electrode 3 have openings for passing ink, and have notches in lower parts thereof for preventing smear due to dropping ink. For the purpose that insulation between the head 1 and the charge electrode 3 becomes enough, a diameter of the opening 2a is smaller than an inner diameter of the charge electrode 3, and in addition the notch 2b is narrower than the notch of the charge electrode 3. A diameter of the nozzle of the head 1 is below 30mum.
