Abstract
PURPOSE:To safely readily fusion-cut and remove the base metal deposited at the converter port by providing plural base-metal-fusion-cutting nozzles to the nozzle tip at the end of the water-cooled oxygen lance for top-blowing converters. CONSTITUTION:The lance 1 for oxygen top blowing converters is constituted by a lance body 2 and a nozzle tip 3 of replaceable ends. Plural refining nozzles 5 are formed at an equal spacing on the same circumference by being faced downward to the nozzle tip 3 and plural base-metal-fusion-cutting nozzles 6 are formed at an equal spacing in the circumferential diretion on the same circumference around the same. These nozzles 6 assume a mounting angle beta with respect to the horizontal plane and this beta is made the angles of the range from 30 deg. upward to 45 deg. downward. Oxygen gas channels 18, 19 to the nozzles 5 and 6 are connected to an oxygen source by way of control valves 9, 12 to permit independent controlling of oxygen flow rate. In addition, the lance 1 is water-cooled by the cooling water passed in the feed line 20 and return line 24. The base metal deposited at the converter port may be safely and readily fusion-cut by the oxygen jet from the horizontally facing nozzles 6.
