Abstract
PURPOSE:To form a film having excellent corrosion resistance, workability, and painting property on the surface of a galvanized steel sheet, by painting said surface with aqueous soln. contg. chromic anhydride, silicic acid colloid, and pyrophosphoric acid, then by drying said surface without washing with water. CONSTITUTION:Galvanized steel sheet as it is, or steel sheet treated to form alloy after galvanization, is painted on the surface with an aqueous soln. contg. about 5-50g/l chromic anhydride, about 4-100g/l silicic acid colloid (in terms of SiO2), and about 2-60g/l pyrophosphoric acid. After excess soln. is squeezed out from the painted galvanized steel sheet with rubber roll, etc., the steel sheet is dried with warm air in relatively low temp. range, e.g., at about 100 deg.C. This procedure is applied efficiently to wire rod, or other long size material as well.
