Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a battery with reduced scattering of the performance and high reliability by press molding a mixture of electrolyte holding material powder and electrolyte powder, heat-treating, crushing to a desired size, and remolding it to form an electrolyte layer. CONSTITUTION:In a ball mill, 35wt% of an electrolyte holding material powder comprising an inorganic adsorbent such as kaolin or alumina and 65wt% of LiCl- KCl electrolyte powder are mixed homogeneously. The mixture is prepress molded, heat-treated, for example, at 700 deg.C for 20min, ground into prticles of a desired size suitable for the next process, and then the powder is remolded to form an electrolyte layer 3. Another way, in which a positive active material powder and an electrolyte powder are mixed homogeneously, the mixture is premolded, heat- treated, ground into particles with desired size, and remolded, may be used to form a positive active material layer 4. Thus a battery with reduced scattering of the performance and high reliability can be obtained.
