Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce electric power being applied to a resistor and to enable high- speed printing, by composing the resistor of a first resistive coating layer of a thermal head and its second resistive coating layer which is smaller than the first layer and whose thermal conductivity is higher than that of the first layer.
CONSTITUTION: Electrode layers 2 are provided at a prescribed distance from each other on an insulating board 1 of ceramic or the like. The first resistive coating layer 30 is provided so that it covers a part of each electrode layer 2 and is connected thereto. The second resistive coating layer 40, whose resistance and size are smaller than those of the first resistive coating layer 30 and whose thermal conductivity is higher than that of the first layer, is provided thereon. Since heat generated in a resistor 3 by a voltage applied across the electrode layers 2 is effectively transferred to thermosensitive recording paper, electric power which is applied to the resistor 3 to perform printing on the thermosensitive recording paper can be reduced and high-speed printing is enabled.
