Abstract
PURPOSE: To generate electric power by a method wherein liquefied air is jetted, and heated to expand over the surface of water within a closed chamber through the utilization of solar heat, so as to push water up to an elevated head and the potential energy of the pushed-up water is used for power generation.
CONSTITUTION: Water is fed into a closed container 1 via a feed water pipe 4, and liquefied air is continuously jetted from a liquefied-air cylinder 6 placed in the container 1 while being evaporated. The jetted air is heated to expand by the heat coming from the water and the like surrounding the closed container 1, i.e., by the solar heat. The air expanded depresses the surface of water in the closed container 1, so that the water in the container 1 is pushed up through a riser pipe 5 to a reservoir 7 above, and stored in situ. Accordingly, the solar heat energy absorbed by the gas (air) in the container 1 is converted into, and stored as, potential energy of the water in a reservoir 7. The water in the reservoir 7 is led through a water conduit 8 to a generator 9, where it is used for power generation. In addition, since the gases constituting the liquefied air are evaporated in the order of lowness of boiling point, a variety of gases can be collected through a gas collecting pipe 2.
