Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare an agent remarkably effective to powdery mildew and having low phytotoxicity to vegetables and low toxicity to man and livestock, by using a 2-(2-hydroxyethylamino)-3-benzoylpropionic acid ester as an effective component.
CONSTITUTION: An agent for the control of powdery mildew, containing a 2-(2- hydroxyethylamino)-3-benzoylpropionic acid ester of formula (R is 1-4C alkyl) or its salt as an effective component. The agent is applied in the form of solution, emulsion, wettable powder, compound for dissolving in a solvent such as water, powder, granules, particles, etc., pref. solution, wettable powder, or powder. It is especially effective to the powdery mildew of tomato, eggplant, strawberry, etc. by scattering to the vegetables before the outbreak of the blight, or at earliest possible stage of the blight. The scattering is pref. repeated nearly every 7 days. The concentration of the effective component for scattering is pref. 1,500W5,000ppm.
