CONSTITUTION:A controlling agent containing a terpene ketone compound expressed by formulaIor II (either one of R<1> and R<2> is methyl, the other is H; R<3> is H or lower alkenyl; R<4> is lower alkenyl, halogen, lower alkoxyl, phenoxy or phenyl; m is 1 or 2; n is 0 or 1; the dotted line represents the presence or absence of a double bond in the designated position), e.g. 6,10-diemthyl-5,9-undecadien-2-one as an active constituent, and further preferably in the dosage form of an emulsion, wettable powder, etc. on mixing with a solvent, surfactant, etc. In case seawater is used as industrial cooling water, the concentration of the active constituent is adjusted to about 0.05-50ppm.
