Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide an agent for controlling adhesion of marine life to the channel of industrial cooling water, a culturing fish net, logs stored in sea water, etc., which causes the increase of flow resistance of water in the channel or boring of the log, by the use of a specific aliphatic ethylenediamine (acid addition salt) as an effective component.
CONSTITUTION: A liquid or gel preparation containing an aliphatic ethylenediamine (acid addition salt) of formula (R is 8W18C alkyl or alkenyl), pref. N-dodecyl ethylenediamine (hydrochloride), as an effective component. Typical applications for various objects are exemplified as follows: for cooling water system, a solution of the compound is added to sea water 1W24hr per day to keep the concentration in the sea water between 0.03 and 3ppm; for fish net and rope, liquid preparation is impregnated or applied to the net, etc.; and for logs, a gel preparation containing 3W20wt% of the effective component is suspended in the sea water near the log to be eluted therein.
