Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a simple, inexpensive and highly reliable device, in a photo circuit element serving both as a photoswitch and an optical branching filter, by providing plural filters of the transmittance varying with wavelengths, insertionally exchangeably into the optical path, between plural optical fibers having lenses. CONSTITUTION:Light emitted from an optical fiber 1 becomes parallel light beams which then enter a filter 8 that reflects the light of a wavelength lambda1 and the light of a wavelength lambda2. The reflected light of lambda1 is condensed by a lens 5 and is coupled and propagated to an optical fiber 2. On the other hand, the light of lambda2 transmits through the filter 8, passes the inside of a prism 7, is condensed by a lens 6 and is coupled to an optical fiber 3. Next, if the prism 7 is rotated around a rotating axis 7C to insert a filter 9 into the optical path that reflects the light of lambda2 and transmits the light of lambda1, the light of lambda2 is coupled to the fiber 2 and the light of lambda1 to the fiber 3. Further, it is possible to use a plurality of filter pairs. Thereby, the simple, inexpensive and highly reliable device is obtained.
