Abstract

PURPOSE: To aim at effective utilization of energy, by driving a dynamo utilizing the exhaust gas of a diesel engine and making use of electric power from this dynamo as part of the power to drive a propulsion device.
CONSTITUTION: The power output shaft 6 of a Diesel engine 1 drives a porpulsion device 2 through an electro-magnetic coupling 5. On the other hand the exhaust gas developed at the Diesel engine 1 is led to a turbine 19 through a pipe 25 to drive an AC dynamo 30. The electric power obtained in the dynamo 30 drives a motor 10, which supplies part of the power to drive the propulsion device 2. If a rotor 6 on the one side of an electro-magnetic coupling 5 is driven at a speed of n0 revolution, a rotor 7 on the other side rotates at a speed n2, and by the speed difference n1 (=n0-n2) the electro-magnetic coupling 5 outputs generated electric power from slip rings 9 to a rotating electric machine 10. It is, therefore, supplied electric power.
