Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable an automatic initial alining of the printer, by a method wherein a device, which detects a phase position of each plate drum, and a computer, which computes a rotation adjusting angle, are located, whereby phases of respective plate drums are alined with each other, and are also re-adjusted after inserting a web. CONSTITUTION:A differential gear mechanism M transfers the rotation of a driving shaft 8 to a shaft 17 during operation and transfers the rotation of a driving shaft 27 to the shaft 17 when initial alining is conducted. The phase of the plate drum 3 is input to the computer 37 through the detectors 23 and 24. Firstly, phases of the plate drums 1, 2, and 3 are alined with each other, and an adjusting angle is then found by means of the computer 37 from a web length (fixed length) between the plate drums 1 and 3 set at a digital switch 38 and from a circumferential length of the plate drum 3. The plate drum 3 is rotated for a distance of said value in the reverse direction to aline the phase of the plate drum 3. The phases of the plate drums 1 and 2 are alined with each other in a manner as described above, an automatic initial alining of the printer is performed without moving an adjustment roller horizontally for a long distance.
