Abstract

PURPOSE: To heighten sensitivity and accuracy, by using β-D-galactosidase as enzyme for a label, causing pituitary hormone and an antibody to react with each other and thereafter bringing the resultant into contact with pituitary hormone labeled with the enzyme.
CONSTITUTION: A liquid, which contains pituitary hormone to be measured, and a prescribed quantity of a primary antibody corresponding to hormone are caused to react with each other to produce a combined substance of antigen and antibody. A measuring reagent containing pituitary hormone labeled with β-D-galactosidase is added to the combined substance so that some of the pituitary hormone labeled with the β-D-galactosidase is linked to the combined substance. The ratio of the labeled hormone linked to the combined substance to the labeled hormone not linked to the substance and the activity of the β-D-galactosidase, which is enzyme for the label, are measured. The quantity of the pituitary hormone is calculated from the activity of the enzyme.
