Abstract
PURPOSE:To perform effectively the addition of an additive having a vapor pressure higher than the atmospheric pressure by moving reciprocally the molten metal while controlling the pressures of a ladle and treatment container. CONSTITUTION:After a vacuum degassing treatment, an inert gas is introduced into the ladle 1 and the treatment container 3 through pressure gas supply pipes 6 and 7 after closing a shut-down valve 11 of a vacuum system in order to regulate gas pressure by a pressure regulator. And, a pressure difference is caused between the pressure P1 of the ladle and the pressure P2 of the treatment container, and by the pressure difference, the molten metal in the ladle 1 is directed upwards inside the treatment container 3 through the dipping pipe 4. And, while a desired molten metal head H is maintained between the level L1 of the molten metal in the ladle and the level L2 of the molten metal in the treatment container and also the pressures P1 and P2 are controlled so as to make P2 higher than the vapor pressure of additive and also than the atmospheric pressure under the relationship P1=P2+H, the treatment container 3 is moved up and down to move reciprocally the molten metal between the ladle 1 and the treatment container 3, during which period an alloy flux, etc., is added from the hopper 12 into the molten metal.
