Abstract

PURPOSE: The titled attractant that contains a monoterpenoid compound having a sexual pheromone-like activity such as (+)-trans-verbenyl propionate, (+)-verbenyl acetate or trans-isonopinyl acetate as the effective component.
CONSTITUTION: A monoterpenoid compound such as (+)-trans-verbenyl propionate of formula I, (+)-berbenyl acetate of formula II or trans-isonopinyl acetate of formula III is used as the effective component to give the title cockroach attractant. The amount of the component employed is 0.02W1mg in (+)-trans-verbenzyl propionate and (+)-verbenyl acetate and 0.5W2mg in trans-isonopinyl acetate. When the attractant is placed on the cockroach-capturing surface in the trap, it makes male cockroaches axcite to attract them from the haunts and walk actively around it, thus showing sexual pheromone-like activity.
