Abstract

PURPOSE: To prolong the life of a bearing and to improve the maintenance performance, by conducting open/close control of a valve for lubricant supply to the bearing in accordance with the bearing temperature.
CONSTITUTION: The valve 9 is provided under a lubricant storage tank 4, an arm 10 is attached to the valve 9, a thermo-sensing section 11 is embedded into a bearing housing 2, and a bimetal 12 is attached to this thermo-sensing section 11 in such a manner that its one end contacts with the arm 10. When temperature of the bearing rises due to the operation, the thermo-sensing section 11 receives this temperature rise bending the bimetal 12 by the heat and pushing the arm 10 of the valve 9 upwardly. By this pushing-up force, the valve 9 is kept away from a valve seat 8 and opened, and the feed of the lubricant to the bearing from the lubricant storage tank 4 is started. As it is possible, in this manner, to automatically control volume of lubricant supply to the bearing in accordance with the bearing temperature, the life of the bearing is prolonged and the maintenance performance is improved.
