Abstract

1406042 Automatic choke valves P S DEPETRIS 2 Aug 1972 [4 Aug 1971] 36132/72 Heading F1B A choke valve 8 is controlled by temperature responsive means 24 adjacent to which is an electric heater in the form of a positive temperature coefficient thermistor 32 in circuit with a negative temperature coefficient thermistor 36 and an electric power source 54. The thermistor 36 can be located to respond to engine temperature. Heat from the thermistor 32 is conducted to the temperature responsive means 24, which is a bimetal spring, by support shaft 20. The bi-metal spring 24 may be in the electric circuit as in Fig. 1 or an insulating bushing (58) Figs. 3, 6, 7, 8 (not shown) may be provided between the spring and the end 16 of a link 14. A layer of electrical insulation (66) may be provided between the thermistor 32 and the support shaft 20, Fig. 6 (not shown). The positive coefficient thermistor may form part of the side wall of cover 18 Fig. 8 (not shown).
