PURPOSE:To make an edge part clear by improving the phase reproducibility of a chrominance signal part at a boundary between a black-and-white part and other- color part by increasing the logical level of a chrominance signal when a color display signal assigning white or black color is supplied. CONSTITUTION:Color data CD1-CD3 are input following color burst flag pulse CBF. When color data CD1-CD3 are all held at level ''L'' or ''H'', symmetric rectangular signal selecting circuit 3 generates an output of level ''L'' and NAND gate 8 sends out an output of level ''H'', causing the output of the 1st mixing circuit 9 to change. As a result, the phase detection range is widened and the phase reproducibility improves.
