Abstract

PURPOSE: To largely reduce the mass of the moving portion and the spring constant of a solenoid-operated reciprocating pump and to make the solenoid driving portion more compact as well as to permit the pump to be less costly and less noisy by using a diaphragm as a piston.
CONSTITUTION: The fluid sucked in a cylinder 5 by means of a suction valve 10 is compressed by a diaphragm 20 made by attaching a thin flat spring 22 and the like bent to the compressing direction to a plunger 8 through a shaft 6 which is a connecting rod, the plunger 8 being guided by a bearing 14. The compressed fluid passes through a discharge valve 9 of an air chamber 17 formed by a pump casing 16, and a connecting hole 28 of a pump base 11 to become a smoothed discharge flow having no pulsation before being discharged from a discharge port 19. Thus, using a diaphragm as a piston permits the mass of the moving portion to be largely reduced, and the solenoid driving portion to be more compact. Moreover, since the pump has fewer sliding portions, the number of precision parts is reduced, and this permits the pump to be less costly and less noisy.
