Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform brazing and gas carburizing continuously in a furnace and improve working efficiency by raising the temperature of ferrous members in a brazing atmosphere gas and adding a hydrocarbon gas in the temperature lowering process. CONSTITUTION:A door (b) is opened and ferrous treating materials are charged into a purging chamber A, where they are preheated to near the brazing temp. and at the same time the air having entered is substituted. Next, a shutter 3 is opened and while preventing oxidation and carburization in the brazing atmosphere gas of the treating chamber B, the temperature of the treating member is raised and is brazed thereafter. Next, a shutter 4 is opened and a hydrocarbon gas such as propane gas is added in the temperature lowering process of the treating materials after brazing in the carburizing chamber C in the brazing atmosphere gas. While the gas is stirred by fans 8, the materials are subjected to carburizing treatment, after which they are hardened in a chamber D. Also, the effect similar to the above is obtained by brazing the ferrous treating materials in the furnace then adding a hydrocarbon base gas such as propane gas into the brazing atmosphere while continuously lowering the temp. range of 1,100-850 deg.C thereby performing carburizing treatment.
