Abstract

PURPOSE: To discriminate accurately between a sample and its coagulation pattern by forming the image of the bottom surface of a reaction container on the photodetection surface of an array of linear scanning photodetecting elements penetrating the coagulation pattern image in the center.
CONSTITUTION: Analog picture signals of the image of the bottom surface of a reaction container are led out of respective photodetecting elements by photodetector 7 and then converted by A/D converter 10 via amplifier 9 into digital signals, which are input to memory 11. Memory 11, supplied with an address from driving circuit 8 and a sample number from sample discrimination number detecting circuit 12, remembers a digital value that corresponds to the sample number at a fixed position, and the contents of it are read out by address assigning circuit 13. The read digital values are summed up by adding circuit 14, whose output is converted into an analog value by D/A converter 15, the output of which is input to comparing circuit 16, where it is compared to the sum of respective outputs of a group of photodetecting elements obtained from center and circumferential images of the coagulation patterns, so that the decision result regarding the pattern will be displayed on display unit 17, etc. Therefore, it is made possible to discriminate between a sample and its coagulation pattern with accuracy.
