Abstract

PURPOSE: To promote the efficiency of guide vanes by providing the guide vanes with twists to the rotation wise direction of a runner on the boss side of vane-exit ends and to the reverse direction on the tip side for restraining swirls inside the flow passage of guide vanes.
CONSTITUTION: Guide vanes 4W6 are provided with a curvature -θ1 on the tip side (outer wall side) of vane-exit ends reversely to the rotation wise N of a runner. They are also provided with a curvature +θ2 on the boss side (inner wall side) to the rotation wise direction N of the runner. That is, guide vanes 4W6 are twisted on vane-exit ends. In this construction, vanes are bent from the radius of the runner to deform the cross section of a flow passage between vanes in the direction of the pressure gradient of the passage, and consequently, the generation of secondary currents is reduced in itself for promoting the efficiency of guide vanes.
