Abstract
PURPOSE: To reduce the number of processes for forming a casing, by straightening butt joints between the casing and a speed ring for each single section.
CONSTITUTION: Each section 24A of a casing 22 is composed of ruled surfaces and machined through roll bending, so that its side edge 30 is straight for a single section. The thickness of the casing plate is about 30mm, being different depending on their portions. Since both sides of the plate are thinned with a single plane respectively, the actual machining is easily carried out by a gas cutting machine guided along a straight line. This machining method can easily provide high production accuracy and reduce the number of man power.
