Abstract
PURPOSE:To accomplish accurate measurement of the distance between relatively small two objects by receiving the time lag of reflected ultrasonic waves emitted from a transmitter with pulselike intermittent waves produced through shaping of continuous waves. CONSTITUTION:When the time between the pulselike ultrasonic waves 4 is emitted from the transmitter 4 and received with a receiver 9 after reflected from the object 7 at a distance l is expressed by t1 (=2l/ the velocity of ultrasonic wave), the time lag between the timing pulse and the reading signal can be set at t1. In other words, if the transmitter 4 and the receiver 9 are positioned roughly on the same plane while separated 1m from the object 7, the ultrasonic wave from the transmitter 4 can reach the receiver 9 in about 6msec upon reflection. Therefore, if generated after this time interval so that the intermittent amplification circuit F works only for a fixed time, the reading signal permits the sensing of the area within about 1m of the transmitter 4, thereby assuring accurate measurement of the short distance between relatively small objects.
