Abstract

PURPOSE: To eliminate electrode cut-off and decrease angle dependency by performing rubbing treatment parallel to the line electrodes in a line electrode glass substrate and parallel to the row electrodes in a row electrode glass substrates.
CONSTITUTION: In a liquid matrix display panel constituted by a line electrode glass substrate 2 provided with a line electrode group and a row electrode glass substrate 1 provided with a row electrode group, the liquid crystal display system is a display of a twisted nematic type and its orientation is accomplished by rubbing treatment. The rubbing is performed in the direction 5 parallel to the row electrodes 3 in the row electrode glass 1 and in the direction 6 parallel to the line electrodes 4 in the line electrode glass 2. Thereby the electrode cut-off is eliminated, and since the bright viewing direction where angle dependency is largest becomes oblique, the problem of visual angle is reduced.
