Abstract

PURPOSE:To easily mount a license plate on a bumper by subassembling a spacer into a guard molding. CONSTITUTION:A mountain-shaped recess 10, which is extended over a substantially intermediate portion of a metallic core 5, is provided at a lower edge portion of a predetermined section of a guard molding 2, i.e. a such a section thereof that is opposed to a license plate mounting hole 1b formed in a bumper 1. The metallic core 5 has a pair of bent members 11 at its lower opened edge portion, which bent members 11 are extended into the recess 10. A mounting edge 13 integrally formed with a spacer 12 is extended upwardly from an upper end portion thereof. The spacer 12 is inserted at the mounting edge 13 thereof into a groove 7 in the metallic core 5 through the recess 10 before the guard molding 2 has been attached to the bumper 1, and the bent members 11 provided at the lower edge portion of the metallic core 5 are fixedly inserted into an engagement recess 14 to which the mounting edge 13 is opposed. Thus, the spacer 12 is subassembled into the guard molding 2. A licence plate 3 is attached to the bumper 1 with fastening means 16.
